Skyscraper or vertical ads are much better than the old-style banner ads, but best of all is the 250x250 layout. Forget about pictures, plain text ads attract a higher clickthrough rate. Make sure the ads blend with the background
color of your webpages. Don't use borders. Keep the link color blue to encourage clicks - people have learnt to associate blue with links.
Place the ads prominently and make them look like an integral part of your webpage. Give them some breathing space or white space around them. Don't crowd everything together.
Adsense Tip #7: Put Adsense ads where visitors will look at them.
People tend to skim-read webpages so the placement of your adsense links is very important. Place the AdWords near the top left hand side of your page so that they will easily attract your
visitors' attention.
