Do You Make Any Of These 10 Easy-To-Avoid Article Marketing Mistakes?
While some people assert that article marketing is dead, I would be surprised if there were a successful online entrepreneur
who did not recognize the immense power that article marketing can bring to an online promotion.
Of course, like any other good thing there is a right way and a wrong way to go about it: ten wrong ways, in fact!
Here is a list of ten article marketing mistakes which will undermine the value of this potentially very powerful
promotional strategy. How many of these mistakes do you make?
1. When you are ready to promote your affiliate marketing article, do not use it to spam a blog or a forum. Even if you write different introductions for the
article to make it look like an ad hoc posting in response to another forum poster, within a few short sentences it becomes painfully obvious that the post is little more than an
unwelcome sales pitch. (Some forums such as Warriorforum and Conquer Your Niche have special sections where you can legitimately place your articles, so make use of those
facilities instead of spamming.)
2. Unless you are an experienced and fluent writer, have your affiliate marketing article ghostwritten. The sheer volume of badly written articles - be it diction,
grammar, or punctuation - is legion and there is little more embarrassing than having your customers point out your mistakes and errors.
3. Fact-check your articles. This is vital when you use statistical data or quotations.
4. Keep your articles concise. 400 to 500 words are more than sufficient to write a worthwhile piece of non fiction to market your company, product line, or service.
Exceeding the 800 word count is excessive.
5. Don't exhaust yourself by writing about everything in one article. Instead, prepare a series of articles which discuss your topic and product from several different perspectives.
This will give a greater impression of authority and gives your marketing campaign a feeling of depth and expertise. Also, while one article may not appeal to a group of readers,
another one with a different angle might just have just the hook you need to convert them into buyers.
6. Don't over-sell: if you fail to keep your sales pitch discreet and cannot offer content of real value it would be better not to write at all.
7. Don't try to talk about everything you well in one article. Employ greater focus and more convincing detail throughout the article by discussing one topic, product or service only.
8.Failing to include an opt-in link to your mailing list or email newsletter subscription database is one of the more careless of affiliate marketing mistakes. Any
article that goes out without a link back to your main website is effectively an article written in vain!
9. Stick with one style, or with one ghost writer. While some variation may be allowed as the subjects you are addressing change, keep it to a minimum. Instead, request that your
order be assigned to just one writer so as to make sure the tone remains consistent from article to article.
10. Avoid simply cutting and pasting the mass of freely available material from the Internet because an article that lacks original content will convey the impression that its writer
has nothing new to bring to the market.
